Questions for Consideration
Did the instructional mode you used suit the kind of learner you are?
What kinds of prior knowledge do you bring to the table? How much impact does your previous experience have?
- previous experience working with Legos
- previous experience constructing objects from diagrams
- any kind of construction experience (wood shop, engineering, etc.)
- experience with modeling software (Auto-CAD)
- manual dexterity experience (knitting, beading, etc.)
Do you remember any anxiety related to knowing how to read the diagram? Did you have to spend time thinking about how to understand the mode of delivery? Or did the instructions seem familiar?
How likely is it that you would be able to build this car again without looking at instructions? Do you think that an entirely new Lego set would be any easier to construct as a result of this experience?
Did any technological problems occur while you were working? Did it impact your progress?
If this were your course, can you imagine the challenges you might face in creating a set of Lego instructions for students to use? What issues might guide your choices?
